About the National Consumer Congress

The National Consumer Congress is an annual conference that brings together stakeholders from across the public, private and community sectors to explore the key issues facing Australian consumers. This year’s event will be delivered both in person and online.

The event will be held from 8.30am to 4pm on Thursday 15 June 2023 at Promenade Docklands, Level 1/78 Newquay Promenade, Melbourne. The link details to attend this event virtually will be provided to registered attendees closer to the date.

Theme

The theme for this year’s event is Bringing the consumer voice to regulatory action.

Speakers will share their perspectives on important topics including:

  • disrupting scams
  • dealing with consumer hardship in the energy and telco sectors in the current cost of living environment
  • consumer guarantees and finance issues in the motor vehicle sector
  • environmental and sustainability consumer issues.

Caution about sharing consumer voice stories

Many sensitive consumer stories will be shared at this event. To ensure these participants’ wellbeing, we have agreed that information provided will not be shared or used outside the conference.

Online attendance

The virtual component of the event is not capped in the same way as our traditional face-to-face event. This will allow a larger number of participants from consumer and community sector organisations. This event is invitation only and only registered attendees will be sent links for the live stream.

ACCC and AER staff will be able to use the link available on the intranet.
