In December 1992, a government working party reported on industry’s response to the Trade Practices Commission's (TPC) 1991 report on the market for consumer credit insurance (CCI), recommending further review and various reforms.

This ACCC review was outcome focussed with the aim of adding value rather than re-examining all issues in detail

  • assessed the effectiveness of industry and government changes
  • identified persisting or new problems for consumers of CCI
  • suggested cost-effective, industry-based action to address any such problems
  • provided feedback on the cost-effectiveness of the mix of regulation.

This is the final report from this review.
