This is the fourth ACCC monitoring report. This report updates a subset of information in the first three reports by including an additional six months of data from insurers. It examines costs and premiums and the impact of reforms on insurers.

This report monitors costs and premiums of insurers up until 31 December 2002 which was the latest data available to the ACCC.

An important part of the work of the ACCC during the three years from 8 July 1999 to 30 June 2002 was its oversight of pricing responses to the New Tax System changes, particularly the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax and abolition of the Wholesale Sales Tax.
