Description of Conduct

On 14 October 2021, the City of Hobart Council applied for authorisation on behalf of itself and 11 additional councils in southern Tasmania to collectively tender and contract for recycling acceptance, sorting, and processing services. In addition to the City of Hobart Council, the participating councils are Glenorchy City Council, Clarence City Council, Kingborough Council, Sorell Council, Derwent Valley Council, Glamorgan Spring Bay Council, Tasman Council, Brighton Council, Huon Valley Council, Central Highlands Council and Southern Midlands Council.

Authorisation is sought for 15 years and six months to cover the initial procurement process and long-term contracts for the provision of services.

On 16 February 2022, the ACCC issued a determination granting authorisation until 30 August 2037. A copy of the determination is available below.
