Description of Conduct
NECA have applied for authorisation of a change to the Reserve Trader sunset provisions of the National Electricity Code. These provisions allow NEMMCO to enter into reserve contracts and issue directions in order to ensure that the reliability of supply in a region meets the reliability standard.
The Reserve Trader provisions were renewed in 2003 and are due to expire 1 July 2005. The present application is for a further year extension. The application, if authorised, will prevent the expiration of the Reserve Trader provisions during a time when the NEM governance arrangements are changing.
