Description of Conduct
On 9 April 2020, Virgin Australia Airlines Pty Ltd (Virgin Australia) applied for authorisation, and interim authorisation, to coordinate flight schedules and share revenue with other Australian-based airlines on Australian domestic routes, routes between Australia and New Zealand, and international routes between Australia and the Pacific Islands, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic (the Proposed Conduct). Virgin Australia sought authorisation for the Proposed Conduct until 30 June 2021. Further information about the application for authorisation is available in the application, linked below.
On 25 May 2020 Virgin Australia withdrew its application for authorisation. Please see the ‘Applicant to ACCC re Withdrawal of Application’ document below for further details.
