Summary
On 23 March 2009, third line forcing notifications were lodged by the Clinical Excellence Commission, HealthQuest and 10 other Public Health Organisations (PHOs). PHOs are area health services and statutory health corporations which conduct public hospitals in NSW.
Under the notified conduct, pathology services for private inpatients in NSW public hospitals must, unless it is not in the best interests of the patient, be supplied by pathology practitioners appointed by PHOs.
On 7 April 2009 the notifications lodged by the Clinical Excellence Commission and HealthQuest were withdrawn.
A seperate public register entry exists for the notifications lodged by the other PHOs that have not been withdrawn.
