Summary

On 25 February 2021 the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) granted an exemption under section 56GD of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) to Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Limited (BAB), deferring the commencement dates of its consumer data sharing and direct to consumer obligations in respect of Delphi Bank, Rural Bank and Alliance Bank brands until 1 July 2022, and in respect of the Adelaide Bank brand until 1 November 2022. The exemption is conditional on BAB taking steps to identify options for affected consumers who wish to participate in the Consumer Data Right during the period of exemption.

The exemption also defers certain rule requirements in relation to joint accounts until 1 November 2021.

The ACCC granted the exemption in response to an application from BAB.
