Summary

On 15 August 2011 the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) commenced a public informal review of the proposed acquisition of the Karrinyup Shopping Centre by Westfield Retail Trust and the Westfield Group (as joint owners of the WestArt Trust) ('Westfield').

At the request of Westfield, the ACCC's timeline for the review was suspended on 20 December 2011 to allow Westfield to make further submissions. In April 2012 Westfield commenced a sale process with respect to Westfield Innaloo and the ACCC's timeline remained suspended during that process.

In July 2013 Westfield informed the ACCC of its intention to retain Westfield Innaloo. Westfield intends to proceed with the proposed acquisition of the Karrinyup Shopping Centre and has requested a new informal review. Further information about the new review is available here.
