The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission on Tuesday began proceedings in the Federal Court in Sydney against MHG Plastic Industries Pty Ltd.
MHG is the sole Australian manufacturer of motor cycle helmets. MHG manufactures the Eldorado brand of helmets in open face, full face and motocross styles.
The ACCC has alleged that MHG has sold motorcycle helmets in breach of the mandatory safety standard. The Australian Standard (AS 1698 1988) relating to Protective Helmets for Vehicle Users sets a minimum safety requirement for helmets sold in Australia.
The parties are seeking a speedy resolution to the matter.
