Final record keeping rules8 Dec 2020

On 8 December 2020, the ACCC published final versions of the revised Division 12 and Internet Activity record keeping rules following public consultation commencing earlier this year.

In reviewing the record keeping rules, the ACCC has given consideration to the legislative requirements for the review and submissions of stakeholders.

The ACCC has amended the draft Division 12 record keeping rules published on 18 September 2020, removing the requirement to disaggregate fixed line voice call information by call type (i.e. local, national, international and fixed-to-mobile). The Internet Activity record keeping rules is unchanged from the draft published on 18 September 2020.

The ACCC considers that the changes to the record keeping rules are a net reduction in regulatory burden.

The changes to the record keeping rules won't take effect until the 2021–22 financial year.
