About this register

This register contains a record of class exemptions that are in place or under consideration.

A class exemption is a way for the ACCC to grant businesses an exemption for a specific class of conduct that may otherwise risk breaching the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.

We can make a class exemption when we are satisfied that a class of business conduct is unlikely to substantially lessen competition or is likely to result in a net public benefit.

If there isn’t a class exemption in place for the conduct, a business can apply for an exemption from competition law using the authorisation process or notification process.
